Photography on airfields during WW2 was banned. As a result, some pilots and civilian workers developed very good drawing skills to illustrate what they experienced on a day-to-day basis. Rex Morris, Engineer at Silloth Airfield during WW2, drew this humorous cartoon and on the back wrote:

“This incident did happen. It was against C13 hangar on the apron near the peri track, facing the control tower. The Anson had a burst tyre, and it was decided to change the wheel – there and then. Who’s decision?!! Just as it was jacked up and the wheel removed a plane taxied past.  The slip stream did the rest.”
