RAF Silloth: A Collection of Reminiscences

Wartime Memories of the Men and Women who knew the Airfield at Silloth when it was Operational (Ed. Clowes, M.)

Some years ago, a collection of personal reminiscences about the airfield was compiled by a local history group of the University of the Third Age (Solway).  Edited by Maggie Clowes, there are no publication dates or details or an ISBN number.  It was made available in hard copy but was not published on-line.  Detailed extracts from the booklet are included on this website by kind permission of the editor Maggie Clowes.

  1. We moved toSilloth in1942.MyFather worked on the MU as an airframe fitter. We lived there until 1962 when we moved away due to the closing of the MU.I had all my school years at Silloth and we lived in Skinburness Drive. So interesting to see a website about that time.Happy memories of my childhood in Silloth and six years of my working life.
