Heritage Lottery Fund
This project gratefully acknowledges funding support from Heritage Lottery. Using money raised through the National Lottery, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) aims to make a lasting difference for heritage, people and communities across the UK and help build a resilient heritage economy. HLF has supported almost 36,000 projects with £5.9bn across the UK.
Grateful thanks to all those who have given their time to support the project.
Jim Smith has been a huge help in taking aerial footage of the airfield with his quadcopter. Jim will also be editing a short film of the airfield.
Gordon Akitt deserves special thanks for donating his archive material to the airfield project and for his sound advice and checking of facts.
Archives from the late George Doughty have been gratefully received from Rex Morris.
Rex Morris, at age 93, has been a huge help in providing first hand memories of his time at the Silloth Airfield during WW2.
Local resident, Lawrence Marshall, has also kindly given his time to recount his earliest memories of the airfield.
Many other people are helping with the (ongoing) development of the project, including:
- Peter Ostle
- Maggie Clowes
- John Godridge
- Tom Wood
The website is being developed by Anna Malina, who is managing the project on behalf of STAG.
