Jimmy Lister is a retired train driver, who shunted ammunition between Carlisle and other locations, including Silloth, during WW2. This was a dangerous job and the train crew were often at risk, since sparks or overheated wheels could set fire to the ammunition … with dire consequences.
Jimmy also drove the last train to Silloth before it finally closed 50 years ago in September 1974.
